CMS Issues Revised NGHP Alerts Regarding Direct Data Entry

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) has released two separate “Alerts” (dated November 5, 2010) regarding the agency’s Direct Data Entry (DDE) option pertaining to “small reporters” in relation to the agency’s Mandatory Insurer Reporting directives for non-group health plans per Section 111 of the Medicare, Medicaid & SCHIP Extension Act.

Through these Alerts, CMS provides important information regarding the DDE option, including, who may qualify as a “smaller reporter” for DDE purposes, the operational processes and procedures regarding DDE reporting, and the DDE registration process.
